Joliet Drama Guild presents “Meet My Husbands”
Multiple husbands! Mistaken identities! Fantastic characters! Joliet Drama Guild brings them all to you in a hilarious romp, Meet My Husbands, penned by Fred Carmichael and directed by Jay Alan Wharrie of Coal City. It’s spring: time for romance and laughter with the Guild’s third main stage production of its successful 78th season.
Elaine Scott (Jacqueline Ashcroft of Shorewood), an ad executive, has a problem. She needs a husband to impress a stuffy, but oh-so important, client—Mulgrew (Joe Boron of Shorewood), the European Sausage King. But she already has one husband (Tommy Connolly of Plainfield), up in snowy Chicago, and none is at hand in tropical Florida. What’s a lady in such distress to do? Hire a husband, of course! She finds a beach bum, Tim Billings (Michael Perkins of Plainfield), who has an intriguing secret of his own.
Add a wise maid who’s seen it all (Robin Christopher of Joliet), a nosy gossip columnist (Devon Ford of Joliet), yet another “husband” (Luke Pascale of Plainfield), a couple of clever wives (Laurel Hays of Joliet and Yvonne Ambrose of Frankfort) and a Hollywood film shooting at the same location, to mention just some of the complications, and you have a fast-paced comedy that will have you chuckling all the way home. Maurice Williams, Sr. of Joliet serves as stage manager for Meet My Husbands, and Allen Pindell of Shorewood and Helen Levy of Plainfield are producing the production.
Performances will be April 8, 9, 15, and 16 at 8 P.M., April 10 and 17 at 2 P.M., inside the Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park Theatre, 201 W. Jefferson St., Joliet.
