Announcing “A Charlie Brown Christmas, and other holiday favorites”!

We are pleased to present a new effort from the Joliet Drama Guild! We are taking a hiatus from our annual Madrigal Dinner to try something different that we're pretty sure you'll enjoy, but we will revisit the dinner in the future. This year, we are doing a combined production centered around Christmas television specials from the past. The best ones and the ones that seem to hold up best over time are the ones from the 1960’s and 1970’s, so we started with the most popular ever and built on from there.

CharlieBrownChristmas LogoThe stage version of the animated classic television special A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS comes to life in this faithful stage adaptation, in which Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the rest of the Peanuts Gang discover the true meaning of Christmas. For those who don't know the story, "when Charlie Brown complains about the overwhelming materialism he sees among everyone during the Christmas season, Lucy suggests that he become director of the school Christmas pageant. Charlie Brown accepts, but this proves to be a frustrating endeavor. When an attempt to restore the proper holiday spirit with a forlorn little Christmas fir tree fails, he needs Linus’ help to discover the real meaning of Christmas."

To compliment the theme of classic Christmas specials, we will also present “other holiday favorites”, a collection of your favorite songs and dances from Christmas and holiday television specials from the past, especially around the time of this most famous special of all time.

The performances will be December 15th at 2:00 PM and 7:30 pm, and Sunday December 16th at 2:00 PM. Tickets will be $15 for adults, $13 for seniors 65 and over, students 18 and under, and active military. Children 8 and under are only $5 with a paid adult!
